Handled like a pro! Dakota Johnson decided to wear a tiny red Magda Butrym dress for her appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden , but it looks like the hemline was a few inches shorter than she originally planned.
Sitting down on the couch for her interview, the silk number pulled her leg up a bit too far, to the point where she was covering her upper thigh with both hands.
“Are you OK? Are you fine? Do you want my jacket? host James Cordon inquired, noting that his guest had nearly missed a wardrobe malfunction.
Wasting no time, the 32-year-old actress said, “I’m fine. It’s nothing that anyone hasn’t seen before. This expert answer referred to Johnson’s nude scenes in her 2015 film Fifty Shades of Grey , 2017 film Fifty Shades Darker , and 2018 film Fifty Shades Freed . In the trilogy, she plays Anastasia Steele. Johnson also showed skin in her new film The Lost Girl.
This isn’t the first time Johnson has unexpectedly laughed while showing some skin. Step back in time to the 2016 People’s Choice Awards and How to Be Single star faced a similar wardrobe malfunction.
As she took the stage to accept her Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress award, the star’s bodice came undone. Rather than going into panic mode, she remained calm, cool and collected. “Well, it’s not like anyone here hasn’t seen my boobs before,” she joked to the live audience.
Later that year, Johnson explained exactly what was happening onstage during an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers . Apparently, it was his passionate embrace with presenter Leslie Mann that caused the drama.
“I hadn’t seen her in a while, so I kissed her,” she said. “I kissed Leslie, then my dress broke and it was a two piece, so my top almost fell off.”
While Johnson probably would have preferred to avoid accidental dress ups, she’s certainly not averse to stripping down for a movie scene.
“Will I stop doing nude scenes when my boobs sag? I do not know. Maybe I have a more European mindset about these things,” she said in an interview with Vogue . “I don’t want to see someone wearing a bra and underwear in a s*x scene. Let’s be honest about it. People are naked when they fu*k.
