Cricket Australia has been facing a lot of disrespectful comments following the ball-tampering incident against South-Africa. If reports are to be believed, Cricket Australia (CA) is most likely to announce a life ban to all the players involved in the incident. Yes, that means, David Warner And Steve Smith may no longer play any domestic or international tournament.
Also, both Smith and Warner had stepped down from the position of captain and vice-captain respectively in the middle of the test match. On the other hand, as per ICC punishment, Smith will now miss the final Test of the series and fined his entire match fee. Bancroft was fined 75% of his match fee and got three demerit points.
ICC chief executive David Richardson said: “As captain, Steve Smith must take full responsibility for the actions of his players and it is appropriate that he be suspended.”
What was the ball-tampering incident?
On the 3rd day of the Cape Town Test, Australian Batsman, Bancroft was seen using a yellow-tape to tamper the ball. The whole act was caught on camera and later on, Smith admitted that it was a “big mistake and the whole Australian team leadership involved in this matter.
