Bhatt took no time to reach Mumbai Crime Branch office and lodged a complaint on Wednesday. He also tweeted on his Twitter account that:
“A bolt from the blue in the form of an extortion call & threat to my family was nipped in the bud by the MH & UP police in tandem. Gratitude! All of us is better than one of us!!,”
According to the sources, the caller has tracked near Uttar Pradesh. The caller threatened Mahesh Bhatt that he will kill his daughter by pumping bullets if he fails to pay the mentioned amount. He made this extortion call on February 26 and shared his bank details to Bhatt and asked him to transfer the amount. This bank is located at Lucknow.
Not only this, the caller also sent threatening messages to Bhatt through WhatsApp. Well, the caller is detained in Uttar Pradesh under the joint operation of Mumbai and UP police. They are searching that how he managed to get the Mahesh Bhatt’s personal mobile number.
However, this is not for the first time that the Bhatt family has received such threatening calls of extortion. In September 2007, his daughter Pooja Bhatt and brother Mukesh received threat calls from a person pretended as fugitive gangster Ravi Pujari.
In June 2006, underworld don Ravi Pujari’s henchman opened fire at the Bhatt’s office after failing to meet him. In January 2013 also, actress-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt received obscene and threatening calls from an unidentified guy.
