The first poster for Deepti Naval‘s next movie, Mother Teresa and Me, has been out. Banita Sandhu, Jacqueline Fitschi-Cornaz, Vikram Kochhar, Bryan Lawrence, and Heer Kaur are also included in the movie. Kamal Musale wrote and directed the movie. Kamal, an Indian-Swiss, is most recognised for his work on the movies Millions Can Walk and Curry Western. In the movie, Jacqueline portrays Mother Teresa, who is the main character.
Posting the picture of the poster, Deepti penned down on her Instagram, “Mother Teresa and Me – coming shortly. This drama traces Mother Teresa’s beginnings in the slums of Calcutta in 1950 and her loss of faith, alongside the story of Kavita, a young English woman of Indian origin abandoned by her partner when he learns she is pregnant. A film about compassion without a political or religious agenda.”
The movie seeks to tell Mother Teresa’s early years in India’s history. Banita plays the part of Kavita, a British woman of Indian descent who visits India. The movie will only be available for viewing in theatres and will be distributed in Hindi and English.
Banita averred, “We are very similar in many ways. She is a young girl still figuring out her life and identity. Trying to process and work through her relationships and her relationship with herself. However, our reactions to these things are very different, which is what drew me to her. She can get quite agitated, which I found difficult to relate to at first. We put in a lot of effort in rehearsals.”
Along with Mahi Ali Khan, Faith Knight, Jack Gordon, and Kevin Mains, the movie, which hits theatres on May 5, also stars Shobu Kapoor, Lina Baishya, Mahi Ali Khan, and Shobu Kapoor. Under the auspices of Curry Western Movies (Pvt Ltd), Les Films du Lotus (Sàrl), and Kavita Teresa Film (Ltd), the feature film is made. The video was allegedly supported by donations, according to the makers, and all proceeds will be donated to help disadvantaged children with their education and healthcare..
