Amjad Khan’s Gabbar Singh role in the film ‘Sholay‘ was highly appreciated by the audience. Ramesh Sippy’s ‘Sholay’ is considered one of the greatest films of all time in the history of Indian cinema. The film had actors like Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan and among them actor Amjad Khan was highly praised for playing this character in the film. But do you know that Amjad Khan had to apologize to Dharmendra during a scene in the same film. So let us tell you about this today.

Amjad’s initial journey during the shooting of Sholay was quite difficult. Amjad Khan had a very sweet voice due to which crew members were unhappy with him. This is because they wanted a heavy voice for Gabbar Singh’s character. If the news is to be believed then he was almost thrown out of the film.

He was given a chance to practice later to fit in his character. Finally Amjad Khan started shooting for Sholay after rehearsals for several days. Once the star cast was filming the popular scene of the film, in which Basanti, Hema Malini was forced to dance in front of Gabbar and his people.
According to this scene, Gabbar Singh forced Basanti to dance to save the life of her lover Veeru i.e. Dharmendra. Amjad Khan was so engrossed in his character that he held Hema Malini’s hand very tightly due to which Hema had to suffer with pain for several days.

When Dharmendra came to know about this, he became angry with Amjad Khan. Amjad later apologized but nothing happened. However, Amjad Khan became friends with everyone including Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan by the end of the shooting of Sholay.
Another thing that is also said about this role of Ajmad Khan, which is, Kitne Admi They? He had to give 40 retakes for this. One of those scenes was finalized after filming 40 times.
