Rapper Divine, who released his album Punya Paap on December 4, became the first Indian rapper to appear on the billboard in Times Square, New York. Divine’s album Punya Paap has been streamed over 10 million times and is claimed to have been ranked number one in all genres on Apple Music India’s chart.
The 11 tracks of this album tell the story of victory, passion and struggle of this Indian rapper. Several tracks from this album have also made their way into Spotify India’s Top 50 list. Devine has composed for this album in collaboration with hip-hop veteran Nas, Grammy-winning songwriter singer Coco Sarai, British drill rapper Dutechaveli, Grammy winner producer El Veno, dancehall artist Stylo G. and Indian American songwriter and singer Lisa Mishra.
Commenting on this achievement, Devine says that releasing an album is always an important milestone for any artist. I am grateful to all my fans who have patiently waited for this album since my last album.
He further added, ‘My Mirchi Song has recently secured a place in the YouTube Top 100 Global Songs and now we are appearing in the prestigious Times Square. This is a sign that the story of hip-hop in India is no longer limited to the current perspective, but a very exciting time is coming. Life is good and I am grateful for it.’
