One of the most high-end fashion brands has filed a case in the Italy court. However Italy said it’s not the correct venue to suit the case. So read to know the matter.
Recently news circulated that the exclusive fashion brand Dolce and Gabbana has filed a case against an Instagram account user. And also spoke about the damage of $600. That happened due to the US bloggers, who posted anti-Asian comments. And due to this, they lost Asian consumers.
Although the issue has come to light recently. But lets us tell you that this case dates back to November 2018, when Dolce & Gabbana faced backlash in Asia. There was outrage after the culturally insensitive videos supporting a major runway show in Shanghai surfaced. And there were many posts of insulting comments in a private Instagram chat. After this, the show was canceled. And it led to retailers backlashing Dolce&Gabbana, merchandise, and Asian VIPs denying to support the brand.
Later the designers filed this case in Milan civil court in 2019 but only became public this week when the bloggers posted about it on their Instagram account. As per the reports the fashion house is now seeking the loss that occurred since 2018, which is 450 million Euros. That will be needed to restore the brand image. Further, they also asked for 3 million euros for the company. 8.6 million for the Shanghai show that was canceled. For the staff and expenditure, they claimed for another 8.6. And the loss they bore from the Asian sales between November 2018-March 2019. For that they asked for 89.6 million euros. So overall the Milan fashion house Dolce &Gabbana has filed a defamation suit in an Italian court seeking over $600.
After the case was filed in Italy. This week a brief from Italian defense attorneys in Milan civil court came up, arguing that Italy is not the correct place for the case. They said that the blog is produced in the United States and the alleged damages occurred in Asia.
