‘Dolittle’, in which Robert Downey Jr. (55) plays the lead, has a chance in the ‘Worst Actor’ and ‘Worst Director’ categories. Other big contenders are the horror film ‘Fantasy Island’ (five nominations) and the much-criticized directorial debut of singer Sia, ‘Music’ (four). All also have a chance in the ‘Worst Picture’ category, as do ‘365 Days’ and ‘Absolute Proof’.
A notable name in the list is that of Rudy Giuliani. Former US President Donald Trump’s lawyer has been nominated in the ‘Worst Supporting Actor’ and ‘Worst Combi’ categories. Giuliani owes those nominations to his role in Sacha Baron Cohen’s second ‘Borat’ film. Giuliani was featured in the film through hidden camera footage while being interviewed by Tutar, Borat’s daughter. The scene caused a stir because Giuliani seemed to put his hand in his pants during the interview.
The ‘winners’ will be announced on April 24 this year, one day before the award ceremony of the Oscars.
