Rajkumar Hirani’s comedy-drama releasing this December will show the hard and danger-filled journey made by Indians to illegally enter countries like the UK and Canada.
Dunki is making waves ahead of its release. After all, it is the collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and renowned director Rajkumar Hirani that promises an action-packed narrative centered around immigration. The story revolves around Hardyal Singh Dhillon, who is Hardy portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan. Hardy only dreams of winning the heart of his IELTS classmate, Manu played by Taapsee Pannu, and embarks on a journey with her and a group of friends to emigrate from India.
Set against the backdrop of Punjab, Dunki sheds light on the challenging and perilous journey undertaken by Indians attempting to enter countries like the UK and Canada through illegal means. The trailer showcases the first half with a humorous touch, showcasing Hardy and his friends struggling to learn English, which is a crucial requirement for their immigration aspirations. But things change as they travel through empty lands on foot and face difficulties from border patrols. Hardy, now an old storyteller, says, “We had to leave home,” ending his exciting story with a proud ‘Jai Hind.’
