It will happen to you, a lead role in an MCU movie with high expectations, but then cannot attend the premiere due to illness. It happened to Elizabeth Olsen on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the latest Marvel film. In order to be able to watch the film on the premiere day, she was sent a copy from Disney, but one with a watermark. The actress refused to see that.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has already raised nearly a billion dollars in cinemas worldwide, but Elizabeth Olsen is not one of those moviegoers. She still hasn’t seen this movie yet, she told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show† Fallon asked if she doesn’t want to see her own work by default, but Olsen certainly doesn’t belong to that group. “I’m one of those people who want to study it right so I can figure out how to make it better. But I had a cold at the premiere and didn’t want to sit there all night. So I asked for a copy so I could watch it, and it had my name on it and the time I viewed it, and I didn’t want to look at it that way. It had my name on it and the exact date and time. It’s just too distracting.” Disney did all this so that the film wouldn’t end up in people’s homes prematurely, but according to Olsen, that was not necessary. “How do you even do something like that? Who should you send it to? How can you actually record it on a computer?” So Disney had little to fear from Olsen,
Still unknown future
Still, it’s not very strange that Disney protects a recording like this with a watermark. Elizabeth Olsen herself has already indicated that she is bad at keeping secrets. The context in which she said that was that she had no secrets to tell about her future in the MCU, as she herself doesn’t know anything about the future plans surrounding her character, Wanda Maximoff. There are rumors about a solo film about the character, but Olsen says he knows nothing about it yet. “I don’t know anything about my future… but feel free to keep spreading rumors and maybe they’ll ask me again,” the actress said.
If you want to watch the new Doctor Strange movie at home, you can do that without a distracting watermark. The film is available to watch on Disney+. A trailer for the film can be found below.
