Ever Since artificial intelligence (AI) took the tech world by storm. It has sparked numerous discussions and debates about its drawbacks. People have different perspectives when it comes to AI. Some call it a tool to simplify lives and assist with everyday tasks. Whereas others remain skeptical, with the fear that in the future AI could learn to manipulate humans. This can result in displacing human jobs. And can also damage our existence.
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has been warning about the dangers of AI for quite a long time. He was among the tech experts who wrote an open letter taking a pause in AI development. Recently, Musk spoke about the concerns about this emerging technology. While having a conversation with the UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during the AI safety summit held in the UK. Musk called AI as “the most destructive force in history” which can ultimately replace all human jobs. The event was attended by over 100 world leaders. The summit was held in the grand setting of London’s Lancaster House. During the interview, emphasized the significance of of having a “referee” in the form of government regulations when dealing with AI.
Showing the concerns about AI taking over jobs, Musk stated, “We are witnessing the most destructive force in history. We will reach a point where AI surpasses the intelligence of the smartest human beings. There will come a time when no job is necessary – people can have jobs for personal satisfaction, but AI will have the capability to perform every task.” He added that this scenario carries both positive and negative aspects.
As concerns continue to rise regarding the disturbance caused by AI. India and 27 other countries, including the US, the UK, and the European Union, have signed a declaration. This declaration commits to collectively tackle the challenges associated with AI. The commitment was made at the inaugural ‘AI Safety Summit’ hosted by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
