End Of BJP-PDP Coalition in J&K, Mehbooba Mufti Resigns as Chief Minister

The Coalition government of People’s Democratic Party and Bhartiya Janata Party crashes in J&K after BJP withdrew its support from Cheif Minister Mehbooba Mufti. There were huge signs of the crash before months.

“It had become untenable to continue with the PDP government in Kashmir,” said senior BJP leader Ram Madhav.

There are a plethora of reasons behind the clash between two parties. Kathua rape case was one of them, as two BJP leaders protested in support of men accusing of kidnapping, raping and killing 8years old girl of Muslim community. Moreover, the BJP leaders are not in favour of extending Ramazan ceasefire. That Ramazan ceasefire was also a Mehbooba Mufti’s idea.

Defending the decision to pull out support two years before time, the BJP leader said: “Fundamental rights of citizens including right to life and free speech are in danger.”

“After the killing of Shujaat, there was no question of not continuing anti-terror operations,” said Ram Madhav.

Apart from this, there are a number of terror activities seen during Ramazan also such the murder of Senior Journalist Shujaat Bukhari and a soldier who is kidnapped and murdered on his way to home for celebrating  Eid. The state is now under Governor’s rule. The state has total 87 assembly seats where PDP have 28, BJP-25, NC-15, Cong-12 and others-7.
