India will be playing against the England unit for the final test of the series which being led by team India with 2-1 but England’s change in mindset, which was visible against the Kiwis can be a trouble for the captain-less team India.
KL Rahul was earlier stated as injured and his unavailability for the final Test clash caused team India some harm after knowing that there will be no more opening batsman in the squad. The Test is announced to begin from 1st July and Rohit’s recovery seems doubtful while KL Rahul, another opening batsman in the squad, was removed earlier from the list after facing a groin injury because of which he had to travel to Germany for a long recovery break.
Dravid claimed that India has “clarity” regarding who will open in Rohit’s absence, but he remained mum about the details. It’s possible that Mayank Agarwal won’t always be chosen even though he was urgently flown in as a replacement for Rohit.
Reports from the BCCI have confirmed the arrival of young opening batsman Mayank Agarwal as an inclusion to the Indian squad after the visitors suffer a huge blow from Rohit Sharma’s news of being COVID-19 Positive.
Mayank Agarwal will be tentatively the priority plan for Dravid and management who shall open with young lad Shubman Gill for the final clash against the Englishmen.
Coach Dravid prefers KS Bharat over India’s regular opener Mayank Agarwal and states “Obviously Mayank is a regular opener. We have other options; Bharat has opened in a lot of games for Andhra and showed in that side game that he is batting superbly at the moment. He got 70 and a 40 opening the batting (against Leicestershire) and we got him to open in that innings keeping a lot of things in mind.
