Joe Root’s wonderful knock of 115* runs helps the home side to dominate Day 4 and snatch the first win of this epic series of England vs New Zealand.
The first innings at the Lords stupefied the crowd as 17 wickets fell on Day 1 and the game was on the verge of getting over by the third day until the Kiwis’ heroes Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell assisted the New Zealand innings which certainly gave the visitors a chance to come back into the game but it was too late as England completed the target today on Day 4 with the help of Joe Root’s fantastical century.
Nottingham will await either a revenge game or series decider on June 10th as the second test will either give England the trophy or the Kiwis a chance to play with passion at Leeds.
