Due to the absence of seamer Emily Arlott due to Covid-19, England has had to make changes to their lineup for the lone Test against South Africa.Pacer
Pace bowler Issy Wong has been promoted from the reserve list to the 13-player squad for the four-day match that begins in Taunton on Monday, and she is now competing for the positions Anya Shrubsole and Katherine Brunt recently left vacant after their retirements. Issy Wong is uncapped as of now.
“Emily Arlott has been ruled out of England Women’s LV= Insurance Test match against South Africa, and has been replaced in the squad by Issy Wong. Arlott is returning from COVID-19 but is still feeling the after-effects of the infection so has left the group and returned home,” tweeted England cricket.
Wong is one of the players who might make their Test debut, joining the likes of fellow seamers Freya Davies and Lauren Bell, hitter Emma Lamb, and all-rounder Alice Davidson-Richards in competing against the Proteas.
