D.O. of EXO is formally leaving SM Entertainment to start his own business. Known for being the lead vocalist for EXO, D.O. is ending his lengthy affiliation with the agency to start a new phase of his career. When the story started to circulate on social media, SM Entertainment verified the reports and gave a quick response.
The news of D.O.’s departure was leaked by some media sites a day after SM Entertainment denied rumours that Chanyeol and Sehun were quitting the agency. The K-pop sensation and his longstanding managing director were reportedly planning to leave the agency to launch their own business. This will occur following the expiration of his contract in November of this year. The K-pop sensation will keep contributing greatly to EXO’s next projects while continuing to work as a member of the group.
SM Entertainment issued a statement “D.O.’s exclusive contract will end in early November. Following discussions, we have mutually decided that while EXO promotions will remain with SM Entertainment, his acting and solo endeavors will be managed through his newly established company with one of our managers”.
Regarding his career, the K-pop star debuted a brand-new music video for his song “Someone” on September 18, marking the beginning of his much anticipated return.He released his debut album, Expectation, on the same day.
