Kapil Dev underwent a successful emergency coronary angioplasty at Fortis Escorts Hospital in South Delhi. The hospital confirmed on Friday that 61-year-old Kapil was admitted on Thursday night after suffering a heart attack. The hospital further stated that Kapil’s condition is stable and he will be discharged in the next few days.
Kapil Dev’s teammate Chetan Sharma has shared a picture of the former all-rounder from the hospital.
According to the director of the cardiology department at Fortis Escorts Hospital, Dr. Atul Mathur, Kapil was admitted late at night at 1, where he underwent emergency coronary angioplasty later.
Kapil Dev, who once held the record for most wickets in Test cricket, retired from Test cricket in 1994. He remained the highest Test wicket-taker for six years. He was followed by Courtney Walsh of England.
