Major Hercharan Singh is the first Sikh Army officer of Pakistan. He contributes his services to the Pakistan Army at the post of Major. He got married on December 04, 2017 at Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Hasan Abdal, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The marriage grabbed the eyeballs of the media as it is the marriage of Pakistan Army’s first Sikh officer ( in past 70 years since independence). The ISPR said in a statement that, a number of serving and retired officers of Pakistan Army attended the marriage ceremony.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, in his message, extended his good wishes to Maj Hercharn for his married life. Maj Harcharn Singh was commissioned in Pakistan Army in 2007, the statement said. Pak Army remains a symbol of national integration and respects rights of religious minorities in Pakistan, it added.
