Former Indian cricketer Virendra Sehwag took on the opportunity to select his top order for team India for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in Australia from October.
India performed poorly in the previous T20 World Cup, failing to advance to the knockout round. This time around, the Men In Blue will strive to do better. Not only did India not advance to the semifinals, but the Virat Kohli-led Indian team also suffered their first loss to Pakistan in the championship game
Team India will be under a lot of changes since the last year’s early exit as coach Rahul Dravid will be taking the charge along with Rohit Sharma the new face of India’s captain.
Virendra Sehwag chose his top-order batsmen and surprised everyone by not choosing Virat Kohli in the top 3 batsmen of the playing XI list.
Sehwag believes that the rough patch of Virat Kohli might not be recovered by October and feels that he should be replaced by KL Rahul instead.
“India has options aplenty when it comes to hard hitters in T20s. However, I would personally vouch for Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and KL Rahul as the top three batters for the World Cup in Australia,” said Sehwag.
“The right-hand and left-hand combination of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan, or for that matter, Ishan and KL Rahul could be quite interesting for the World T20,” he added.
