Erstwhile R&AW Chief Vikram Sood has stated he would prefer not to waste time seeing Pathaan months after its release, which is still the greatest box office hit of the year so far. He stated that Bollywood espionage films should be entertaining while remaining realistic. But he claimed to enjoy Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger and recommended it as a model for how future espionage flicks ought to be produced.
Shah Rukh Khan played an R&AW agent in the movie Pathaan. Deepika Padukone played an ISI agent, while John Abraham played a former R&AW agent who had gone rogue. Over Rs. 1000 crore was the film’s total international take.
In conversation with The Ranveer Show, for which the video was floated by a Reddit user, Vikram Sood said, “I think we haven’t got the art to do this. They could do better. They can be realistic, these are not realistic.”
When asked why, to which he affirmed, “you are trying to make a James Bond movie which is also not realistic. Then you have this story of the ISI girl and a R&AW man living happily ever after…take a break yaar (laughs). The whole atmospheric…I haven’t seen Pathaan and I won’t see it because I don’t think it is… its not an accurate depiction. Why to waste my time!”

However, Vikram Sood said that he had seen the 2012 movie Ek Tha Tiger, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. “I laughed and I enjoyed that because it was so quaint, not because it depicted anything,” he said.

He couldn’t remember his another film titled Bajrangi Bhaijaan for which he had said, “Salman Khan going under a tunnel to Pakistan to deliver a girl who got left in India. Theek hai yaar. Thoda exaggerate… You have to have entertainment which is fun and realistic.”
Vikram Sood’s choice

He did suggest that viewers watch Tom Hanks’ 2015 movie Bridge of Spies. “That is a real movie. That is how real spy movies are made. It means dealing with actual facts, no blown around, no nothing around, living a lonely life, living all by yourself.”
