Gauri was a well-renowned journalist as she edited Kannada tabloid ‘Gauri Lankesh Patrike’ and also wrote columns for some other publication houses. According to the IANS, Bengaluru Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar said:

“A total of seven bullets were fired out of which four missed the target and hit the wall of the house. Three bullets had hit her — two in her chest area and one in the forehead.”

Unfortunately, there were many so-called nationalists who celebrated the murder of Gauri Lankesh. Former Zee News and Network18 ‘journalist’, Jagriti Shukla wrote: “Those who blv in bloody Revolution now mourning fate of Gauri Lankesh. How does it feel to be on the receiving end?”

She further tweeted: “So, Commy Gauri Lankesh has been murdered mercilessly. Your deeds always come back to haunt you, they say. Amen. #Bengaluru #GauriLankesh.”

Jagriti also compared the people who are mourning on Lankesh’s death with the Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh followers. “Apparently there isn’t much diff btwn followers of #RamRahim & #GauriLankesh #Leftists showing their true color.”

Gauri had been convicted by the court last year in a defamation case filed by BJP MP Prahlad Joshi. She had received jail sentence and fine for an article she published in 2008 but was granted bail on the same day.
