M S DHONI – The Untold Story which is an upcoming biographical film made on the life of Indian cricketer M S Dhoni, is set to release on September 30, 2016. The movie is highly awaited by everyone and seems that its going to do wonders in the box office due to the high popularity of the game in India and such a promising trailer.
Reports suggest that the Fox studio paid the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) a whopping Rs 40 lakh to secure the original footage of Indian cricket captain hitting the winning six in World Cup 2011 among other important clips from some of Dhoni’s best matches but its still not certain.
The audience will get to see Dhoni’s memorable innings but with Sushant Singh Rajput’s face pasted in close-ups in ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’
TOI reports that when Neeraj Pandey was asked to comment on this issue, the director was quoted as saying that he is not aware of whether any amount was paid to BCCL. Pandey also refused to comment on Sushant’s face replacing Dhoni’s for reel while the rest of the footage remains unchanged.
A BCCI spokesperson, however, confirmed that the film’s makers have acquired footage of Dhoni’s matches for a price, but refused to divulge the amount.
It is also learnt that former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Ravi Shastri has reportedly dubbed some commentary portions in the film.
A lot of efforts have been put behind making of the movie. Sushant Singh Rajput who essays the role of M S DHONI in the biopic had previously told the media that he had a hard time challenging himself to adopt the sportsperson character.
