On January 26, 2016 French President Francoise Hollande will visit India as the chief guest of R-day parade.

“We are happy that the President of France Francois Hollande has accepted our invitation to be the chief guest at India’s 67th Republic Day celebrations on 26th January 2016,” External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.

The French president will reach India on 24 January and will begin his tour from Chandigarh before attending Republic day parade on 26th.

Chandigarh, which is the first planned city in India after the country got independence in 1947, is known across the world for its architecture and urban design. The city was planned by French architect Le Corbusier. Hollande has expressed his desire to see Le Corbusier’s works.

3The preparation to recieve the president at chandigarh is going on in full swing. President will visit Tagore theatre, Capitol complex, Sukhna lake, Govt. art gallery sector 10 etc.
