One of Gerald Butler ‘s most famous roles is without a doubt that of the Spartan king Leonidas in 300 . Zack Snyder ‘s film was well received and Butler managed to get a lot of attention in the hard action film. Still, the actor thought the film would fail.
Butler stated during a recent interview that he initially had no confidence in the end result at all. 300 was put together almost entirely with the help of CGI.
Only a handful of scenes were filmed in real environments, as most of it was added digitally afterwards. As a result, Butler thought it was going to be an embarrassment.
Response
For example, the now 51-year-old actor says: “ It looked strange. I walked around in my red cape and small leather underpants and would point out of nowhere with the words, “Look, a village on fire.” I thought to myself then that the movie was going to be really awful … ”
Fortunately, Butler was wrong. The movie was a success (and it even had a sequel). The actor himself was therefore pleasantly surprised when he saw the film for the first time: “ My mouth fell open. I cannot praise Zack enough for the end result. Not only is he a great director and a sweet guy but also an enthusiastic and passionate performer ”.
