On Thursday, the Gujarat High Court has rejected the petition by Zakia Jafri in the 2002 riot case. Moreover, the court upheld the SIT’s closure report that gave a clean chit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and 61 others.
According to The Indian Express, Justice Sonia Gokani said: “The trial court has self-limited itself in saying that further investigation, in this case, can’t be ordered. This order of lower court deserves interference.
So, the petitioner can raise the issue before the concerned court that is the same magisterial court, the division bench of the high court or supreme court.”
She added: “The court doesn’t believe in the larger conspiracy theory propounded by the petitioners as the supreme court has monitored the investigation.”
Zakia Jafri is the widow of Congress leader Ehsan Jafri who with 68 others were killed by a mob at Gulberg Society in Ahmedabad. The SIT in its report said that there was not enough evidence to prosecute Modi and other accused.
Let’s see what Zakia Jafri will do now?
