The PCB signed the talented 21-year-old legspinner Tuba Hassan to his first central contract for the 2022–23 season, which became effective on Friday (July 1).
In the recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka, Hassan made her debut for Pakistan and made an immediate impact after taking 3 for just 8. She won the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for May 2022 after taking five wickets in the series.
Both Gul Feroza, who made his professional debut in the Sri Lanka series, and Sadaf Shamas, a member of the team, have received their first central contracts. Ghulam Fatima, Iram Javed, and Sidra Amin are on the list of returnees for the 2022–2023 season.
Along with all-rounder Kainat Imtiaz, Javeria Khan, who had been benched for the Sri Lanka home series, has been demoted to Category C. These six players Hafeez, Nahida Khan, Najiha Alvi, Rameen Shamim, Saba Nazir, and Syeda Aroob Shah—were left off the contracts list.
“I am absolutely thrilled and excited at being given the prestigious central contract for the first time. Hard work has slowly started to pay off, but this is just the beginning. My focus remains on producing strong performances and contributing in my team’s success, rest I am sure will take care of itself as we have seen in this case,” Tuba Hassan said.
