The news is coming from Kandahar, Afghanistan where three gunmen shot dead 6 people including 5 women who were airport staff workers and one man who was their driver on Saturday.
The reason for this incident was the conservative conflict of not letting women pursue their careers. These women were getting threats previously for leaving their job but they refused to do so. These women were working for the airport staff that provides luggage and body search services for female passengers. The incident took place when they were going in a van towards the airport when three gunmen followed their van on a motorcycle and started firing bullets on them.
Later the director of Kandahar airport Ahmadullah Faizi revealed that the women had been concerned about their security after receiving the death threats from the people who were not letting them to pursue their career. This attack brought a feeling of fear for the women of Kandahar who work outside their homes from Taliban militants and other insurgent groups.
In the first eight months of the year 2016, The Afghan Attorney General’s Office has recorded more than 3,700 cases of violence against women. Although, Afghan women have made an evolution since 2001 when the Taliban was ousted. However, they are still failed to make a presence actively in public life and continue to suffer high levels of violence, oppression and abuse.
