AAP has suffered a huge setback as Party’s former Punjab convener Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi has announced his resignation from the party. Ghuggi is upset over the process of Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann’s appointment as the new state unit chief.
According to the Times Of India, He said: “I’m resigning from the primary membership with a heavy heart. For Punjab, Punjabiyat whatever needs to be done, I will do that, but this party has deviated from its principles and it has become difficult for me to continue with this party.”
Earlier, a party source told The Indian Express, “Gurpreet said he was humiliated and that he could have been informed of the decision on the phone and would have tendered his resignation. He said he had been defending the various indiscretions of Mann in public.”
At the same time, Bhagwant Mann has expelled Upkar Sandhu (who was the party candidate for Amritsar Lok Sabha by poll) from AAP for anti-party activities. Sandhu also had opposed Bhagwant Mann’s appointment as Punjab AAP Chief.
