It’s no longer a secret! Sergio Perera, Chris Hemsworth’s personal chef, has provided a detailed account of the star’s diet while filming his blockbuster films.
In an interview with news.com.au, Perera revealed that the 40-year-old actor loves to change his diet depending on whether he has to gain weight or reduce it for a role, and that “good quality beef” is one of his favourite dishes.
“Obviously the guy is a big boy,” Perera added as it “requires a lot of protein for the body he has”.
The actor maintains his diet very clean when he wants to bulk up, according to the private chef who has previously participated on MasterChef Australia, and he grills a lot of meats and veggies. Also mentioned was Hemsworth’s preference for the high-olive-oil Mediterranean diet.
Hemsworth never misses eating a “very large, hearty salad that contains raw and cooked vegetables, fermented products, nuts, seeds, and a lot of good fats with a piece of steak or a big piece of fish” and his diet is devoid of “boxed or canned” foods.
For more over ten years, Perera has been Hemsworth’s personal chef. Elsa Pataky, the actor’s wife, originally approached the chef about working with him.
“He had just finished the first Thor movie, and he needed someone to help match his meal plan to his physical demands,” Perera mentioned in a statement. “And that’s how I came on board.”
“I would sit with his trainer, who is one of his closest friends, and we would all work together on figuring out Chris’ goals,” he further added.
Perera concluded by saying that he had only planned to work with Hemsworth for a short time but had changed his mind since he enjoys the actor so much. As a result, he went to Australia, the actor’s native country, and made Byron Bay his new home.
