Bollywood actor Gajraj Rao has featured in many engaging and impactful roles in his career, one among which is the late Irrfan Khan starrer and the Meghna Gulzar helmed Talvar. in his career. He appeared in the garb of a corrupt policeman who was spearheaded by the late Irrfan Khan. In a fresh interview, the actor recounts the lessons he imbibed from the late actor while filming for the project.
Gajraj Rao on Cyrus Broacha’s podcast, shared, “It was amazing. It was my first scene in Talvar where the CBI officers will come and ask, ‘Dhaniram ye kaise hua?’ and daantenge thoda bohot. But before the shot, Irrfan told me, ‘Baat karte hain thodi si Gajraj ki tumhara character kahan se hai, tumhara ghar kahan hoga (Let’s talk a bit about your character, where he hails from, where he lives)’ I was someone who used to direct ad films, so I didn’t use to invest a lot of time in my characters. So, we had this discussion for half an hour to one hour with Meghna Gulzar.”
Post that interaction, Gajraj Rao learnt that “when you are doing a film, only your scene and your dialogues should not be important, it should be important to know who all are there in your universe.” He also understood that it is not enough to just keep a record of our own lines after interacting with Irrfan.
“Competition comes from the peers who started their journey at the same time as you,” he said.
The actor last appeared in the film Thai Massage. He will be next in Ajay Devgn starrer Bholaa and Maidaan.
