After Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Bollywood star Kartik Aaryan was at the peak of his career, thus his fans were shocked when his subsequent film, Shehzada, bombed. In a recent interview, Kartik discussed the film’s failure and the lessons he had taken away from it. Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, a 2020 Telugu movie, was remade as Shehzada.
In conversation with BBC Asian Network, Kartik added, “I think the biggest perspective that I got was that I would not do a remake, I would not do a remake film. This is actually the first time that I was doing, the first time that I was actually experiencing something, I was doing it on camera, on screen, so it was a different experience. While filming, I didn’t realise it, but I realised that later on that this was something that people have already seen and I don’t see them watching it again, spending money and going to the theaters to watch the same thing again. So I got a big perspective.”
Shehzada made a total of Rs. 47.43 crore worldwide, of which Rs. 38.33 crore came from sales at Indian theatres. He went on to say that the industry frequently produces remakes “Because every now and then a remake arrives, you know, there’s a script, which is a remake. But I’ve decided that I would not enjoy it. I would not like to do something which somebody has done.”
Kartik has a history of hit films under his belt, earning him the moniker “hit maker” from both reviewers and fans. Even though Love Aaj Kal 2 went poorly at the box office, he claimed that it still had the biggest opening at the time, which eventually offered him some relief.Recently, Kartik was paired with Kiara Advani in the movie Satyaprem Ki Katha. The movie received favourable reviews and performed admirably at the box office.
