The Indian government has also banned mobile apps like Livik, WeChat Work and WeChat Reading, Applock, Carrom Friends, citing national security. Earlier, India banned several Chinese apps including the short video sharing app TikTock. The action comes after fresh attempts of Chinese incursion into Indian territory in Pangong Tso in eastern Ladakh.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said in a statement, ‘This step will protect the interests of crores of Indian mobile and Internet users. This decision is a targeted step to ensure the security and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace. ‘
