The Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) is pleading before the Immigration Minister to impose a requirement for visa applicants in an effort to combat the increased ignorance of Indian students about Canadian laws and regulations. The president of the prestigious Indo-Canadian organisation, Murarilal Thapliyal, further emphasised the serious effects of this ignorance.
Tragically, due to their ignorance of local rules, a number of Indian students have perished in traffic accidents or drowned in ponds. Students who lack knowledge are also more susceptible to sadness and, in some tragic situations, suicide.
The incorporation of an acknowledgment form in admission paperwork is the crucial remedy suggested by the ICCC. Indian kids and their parents would need to certify on this form that they are conversant with fundamental Canadian laws.
The booklet would include information on crucial subjects like proper conduct in public areas, following traffic regulations, paying rent on time, emergency contact information, and resources for mental health support, which includes NGO and consulate phone numbers.
Lawyer-by-trade Murarilal emphasises that students who violate the acknowledgment form afterwards should face severe repercussions, including deportation.
The proactive approach used by the ICCC strives to close the knowledge gap and stop situations affecting Indian students in Canada that could have been avoided. The ICCC is unwavering in its mission to safeguard Indian students’ interests and general well-being while promoting goodwill between the Indian and Canadian populations while it waits for the Immigration Minister’s response.
