International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2023 recently took place in Goa. But one thing that grabbed the eyeballs was Bollywood icon Sunny Deol’s emotional moment at the event. Read to know.
IFFI 2023 is a 9-day festival that started on 20th November in Goa. It was inaugurated by Union Minister Anurag Thakur at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Panaji. Amid the event Bollywood actor Sunny Deol stole the spotlight when he found himself in an unexpected and deeply emotional moment during a masterclass session with directors Anil Sharma, Rajkumar Santoshi, and Rahul Rawail.
This emotional moment took place during a panel discussion, where director Rajkumar Santoshi, known for collaborating with Sunny Deol in iconic films like Ghayal and Damini, shared his heartfelt thoughts on the industry’s treatment of the actor’s talent. Santoshi said “I believe that the industry has not done justice to Sunny’s talent. But God has done justice.” After hearing these touching Santoshi’s remarks, Sunny couldn’t hold back his tears and struggled to regain calmness. When Rahul Rawail inquired about his Bollywood journey, Sunny said, “I have been quite lucky. I get too emotional, that’s my problem.”
The actor went on to share his gratitude, stating, “I was very fortunate. I started with Rahul. He gave me three beautiful films. Some worked, some didn’t. But till today, people remember those films. I am standing here because of my films.” shedding light on his career, Sunny revealed the challenges he faced after the massive success of Gadar, saying, “After Gadar, which was a massive hit, my struggle period started because subjects or scripts were not offered to me, and things were not happening. Even though I did some films in between, there was a gap of 20 years. But I did not give up. I was always moving forward.”
