A student of IIT Madras has went missing from her hostel and is reported to have left for Himalayas to attain sainthood. The city police said Vedantam L Prathyusha, from Brodipet in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, was a second-year MS student in the IIT-M’s department of engineering design.


Some students had complained about Prathyusha’s disappearance following which the hostel warden broke open her room and found two notes in which she stated  that she wants to have an adventure and research spirituality.


Her pages on social networking sites also indicate that she she had an avid interest in spiritual texts like Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavad Gita. Her note further stated that she would be under the protection of god and never to be found again by her kith and kin.

A missing person complaint has been registered with Kotturpuram police and they’re attempting to locate her.
