India’s team for the T20I series against the West Indies was announced by BCCI. Rohit Sharma, the team’s regular captain, will lead them in three T20I matches. The T20I team that will travel to the West Indies has been without Virat Kohli. Depending on their physical condition, KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav will rejoin India’s T20I team against the West Indies. Whether they are admitted will rely on their fitness test.
Offspinner R Ashwin has been re-inducted into the T20I squad as well, as India is eager to explore all options before the World Cup later in the year. Ashwin had made a comeback from a lengthy absence from the white ball group at the T20I World Cup the previous year, but since then, injuries have also contributed to his exclusion from the team.
On their visit of the Caribbean, India will play three ODIs and five T20Is. There will be two of those T20I matches played in Florida, USA. India had already selected an ODI team, which would be captained by Shikhar Dhawan and would be without any of its regular players. After being benched for the ODIs, Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya have been selected for the T20I team.
India’s squad for 5 T20Is: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, R Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh.
