India won the 2nd test match against Australia at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on Day 4, beating the opponents by 75 runs. India put in one of the best bowling figures under pressure in recent times to defend the total of 188. Five main reasons why India won the match:
Excellent Bowling by Seamers
The pace attack of Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav bowled very well. They have controlled the pace and spin in a disciplined manner. Their spells kept India in the game.
Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara shared an unbeaten 93-run stand to take India to 213/4 at stumps on Day 3. Interestingly, this was the only 50-run partnership for India in the two Tests.
KL Rahul’s Class Batting at his Home Ground
KL Rahul showed commendable intent when he came out to bat in both the innings (scored 90 & 51). His class batting pulled India out of the wreck.
Gamechangers: Ashwin and Jadeja
India is blessed to have these two great spinners. Both have bowled magical spells and proved their dominance on the home ground.
Smith’s failure (both as a Batsman and Captain)
Australian batting order usually revolves around Steve Smith. However, in this match, he could manage only scores of 8 and 28.
