India beat Pakistan by 7 wickets in a Group B match in the ongoing T20 Women Cricket on Sunday. Jemimah Rodrigues (53), Richa Ghosh (31) and Shafali Verma (33) emerged as the best scorers in the historic win against the Pakistan Women’s team in the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup.
The target was 150 to win, India which started off with a steady pace harnessed at the eleventh hour while on the other hand opener Yastika Bhatia managed to score 17 off 20 balls. Shafali Verma, played well to fast track the pace ramping the scores to over 50 runs in 7 overs.
After much efforts and sweat, finally Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur made a terrific partnership and sailed off well thereon.
An invincible half-century by Jemimah Rodrigues who minted eight successive fours helped the women in blue fetch victory at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town, on Sunday. Meanwhile, Richa Ghosh too gauged a fantastic 31 runs off 20 balls, including five fours, making a momentous partnership with Jemimah.
On the other hand, Nashra Sandhu clasped two wickets for Pakistan, and Sadia Iqbal minted a dismissal. At first, Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof won the toss and chose to bat. She also hit a phenomenal 68 runs off 55 balls with seven fours, totaling it to 149 for four in 20 overs.
On the hindsight, Ayesha Naseem knocked off 43 runs emerging from 25 deliveries, minting it with two fours and two sixes. Radha Yadav took two wickets. Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar gained a dismissal each.
