The international suspension bridge of Dharchula was opened on Tuesday for 15 minutes. The groom from India reached Nepal with some people and returned in 10 minutes with the bride. At the bridge gate, the parents gave their daughter away by blessing them.
Although the flag of protest against India is being raised by the present government of Nepal, the relationship has not changed at all for the common people. Kamlesh Chandra of Jivi village in India was supposed to go to Nepal on Tuesday. Also, some people from Nepal had to come here for treatment and shopping. The long-sealed international suspension bridge was opened for 15 minutes after the India and Nepal administration agreed to maintain the bread-and-daughter relationship.
As soon as the bridge opened, Kamlesh reached out to Nepal with Barat. In Barat, only the groom’s father crossed the bridge. The bride Radhika was also ready in Darchula town adjacent to the bridge. The ten-minute wedding ceremony took place under the main ceremony. Keeping the duration of the bridge open for 15 minutes, the groom returned to India with Kamlesh bride Radhika. The rest of the marriage ceremony will be completed at the groom’s house. GV village is about 84 km from Dharchula and six km from Pithoragarh district headquarters.
The bride Radhika said that she was to be married in March but that could not be possible due to continuous lockdown. Thanks to the administration, which made our problem easy. Groom Kamlesh Chandra thanked DM of Pithoragarh, Dr. VK Jogande and SDM Dharchula AK Shukla and Nepal Administration. Kamlesh said, even though the bridge opened only 15 minutes but it has brought relief to both the families. If I could not get married today, then I would have to wait till November.
