According to the latest report Indian Railways has canceled Chinese firm’s contract in Dedicated Freight Corridor worth Rs 471 crore. Read the details inside.
During the ongoing conflicts between India and China. The government has taken another major decision. This time the decision has been taken by the Railway Ministry. The railway venture Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation Limited has canceled the ongoing contract with the Chinese firm Beijing National Railway Research and Design Institute of Signal and Communication Company Limited.
Actually, this Chinese company was given the work of Signalling & Telecommunication in the 417 km section between Kanpur to Deen Dayal Upadhyay railway section. This work was worth Rs 471 crore and was given to this Chinese farm under contract. The contract cost was funded through a loan from the World Bank. But according to the railways, even after 4 years of awarding the contract, only 20 percent of the work was done by the Chinese company. As of result, the contract terminated.
Not only this but the demand for the boycott of Chinese products and its services in the country has been gaining momentum. The Department of Telecommunications, Government of India had also decided that Chinese goods would not be used to upgrade BSNL’s 4G. The ministry has asked BSNL not to use Chinese goods due to security reasons. The department has decided to rework the tender in this regard. They are also telling private mobile service operators to reduce their dependence on devices made by Chinese companies.
