India’s captain Rohit Sharma is no longer in isolation after testing negative for Covid-19. He is now ready to play in the upcoming white-ball series against England, which begins with the first T20I in Southampton on July 7.
“Yes, Rohit has tested negative and as per medical protocols is now out of quarantine. However, he is not playing today’s T20 warm-up game against Northamptonshire as he will need some recovery time and training ahead of the first T20I,” PTI was told by a senior BCCI official.
Rohit was not permitted to play in the current rescheduled fifth Test against England after testing positive during the four-day warm-up game against Leicestershire.
While witnessing the Edgbaston Test match on July 4, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a video of the Indian captain commencing net practise. The internet quickly became widespread with a video of veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bowling to Rohit in a truly fantastic match on the training ground.
