Flt Lt Shivangi Singh is a woman who made us proud, as she is India’s, first woman Rafale jet fighter pilot. Moreover, she filled everyone’s heart with joy, after she was seen at the 2022 republic day parade. So lets at a close look at her.
On the 26th January 2022 parade, we all might have noticed Flt Lt Shivangi Singh who was at the IAF tableau. This year the theme of the IAF tableau was how the Indian Air Force, is transforming. But all those who are unaware of her, let us tell you that she is the first woman fighter pilot of the Indian Air Force’s Rafale Squadron. And yes we are very proud to see her there. She is a woman who inspired many young girls and made every Indian’s heart filled with pride after they watched her at the parade.
Shivangi Singh’s childhood and education
This simple-looking woman yet so strong hails from the Phulwariya area of Varanasi. Today Flt Lieutenant Shivangi is an inspiration for many young girls. Shivangi’s father, Kumareshwar Singh runs the family business of tours and travels. And her mother Seema Singh is a homemaker and a teacher. She has two younger brothers.
Although she is a young lady with medium family background. But what actually inspired her to be the pilot was a small tour of the Air Force Museum in Delhi that instilled the seeds inside her. She was in her teens when her grandfather took her there. Soon after she returned back home. All she was talking about was planes, flight, and the women in uniform. And from thereon the things started.
At a very early stage. Right when she was in just VIII standard. She became serious about her studies and later on made her parents proud after she scored 90% in both Class X and XII. Later after completing her schooling and graduation. She went to Banaras Hindu University and joined the 7 UP Air Squadron NCC. She later went to join Air Force Academy for training in July 2016.
In 2017 Shivangi Singh was part of the second batch of IAF’s women fighter pilots. She flew MiG-21 Bisons and underwent training, which is quite mandatory training. It is quite important as the pilot switches from one aircraft type to another. She became part of the Number 17 Squadron later on. Number 17 is the first Rafale squadron, also known as the Golden Arrows, which is based at Ambala. now she is known as the first women fighter pilot of the IAF. and created history. Flt Lt Shivangi Singh, the first woman Rafale jet pilot, no wonder made us so proud.
