On October 31, 1984, Indira Gandhi fell victim to an assassination plot. Two of her bodyguards, Beant Singh and Satwant Singh, fired more than 30 bullets at her from close range. Their motive was reportedly to avenge the perceived humiliation of the Sikh community and the desecration of the Golden Temple during Operation Blue Star in June of the same year. This scandalous event that dates back 39 years ago. Hailed everyone sending shockwaves across the nation. It was the most brutal communal violence India has ever witnessed. After three days, approximately 3,350 Sikhs lost their lives, With 2,800 in the national capital itself.
Congress party paid tribute On Indira Gandhi Death anniversary
Today, on her death anniversary the Congress party paid heartfelt tributes to the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Party leader Mallikarjun Kharge praised her for significantly contributing to building a stronger and more progressive India. Mr. Kharge, alongside former party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, offered floral tributes at her memorial, ‘Shakti Sthal,’ in New Delhi.
Mr. Kharge shared out a quote. Which was to emphasize her dedication to the country: “Humble tributes to Indira Gandhi, India’s first woman Prime Minister, and our idol, who played an important role in building a strong and progressive India with her strong will, efficient leadership, unique working style, and foresight, on her martyrdom day,” Mr. Kharge said. The Congress, in their post, stated, “Heartfelt tributes to the country’s first woman Prime Minister, Smt. Indira Gandhi, an example of strength, determination, and strong leadership, on her death anniversary.” Indira Gandhi’s legacy will be praised.
