From Hussain Zaidi’s book. The film is roaring in success currently. And Alia Bhatt who played the role of Gangubai the Mafia Queen of Kamathipura is being praised all over for her terrific performance. Ramnik Lal First Married her and then brought Ganga to Bombay
Before bringing Ganga to Bombay Ramnik first married her. They both got married in a small temple of Kathaiwad. This boy whom Gangubai got married to, was an accountant who worked for Ganga’s father. After bringing her to Bombay with the promise of helping her to get role in Hindi film industry. He sold her.

Bhansali’s film showed that Ganga Harjeevandas Kathiawadi father of Gangu was a barrister. He belonged to a village of Kathaiwad. And was from renowned family. But besides, this. The family also had strong ties with the royal Kathiawadi family.
The first meeting of Gangu and Karim Lala was bit different than what is shown in the film

4. Gangubai Kathiawadi adopted several children
The film, shows a child in Gangubai’s lap after the death of her friend Kamli. However the reality was that she not just adopted children of sex workers but also many homeless and orphans. Not just she adopted but also make sure that those children recieves a good education.
5. Gangubai actually tied a rakhi to Karim Lala
The pathan named Shaukat Khan, used to assault Ganga. After which Karim Lala beaten him up. And later Lala announced that she was his sister. This story is based on Zaidi’s book on Mafia Queens and hence one of its exrept reads “Gangu smiled and removed a small thread from her purse. ‘Karim bhai, it has been years since I tied a rakhi for anyone because ever since I was brought here, I never felt safe with any man. Today, by offering me protection, you have only reinstilled my faith in brotherhood,’ Zaidi wrote in Mafia Queens.
