Kajol tweeted and wrote, ‘There is a hero behind the mask, who is serving the world silently. Thanks to all these heroes. Thank you to all the nurses. ‘

Sanjay Dutt wrote ‘Our nurses and healthcare professionals have saved many lives due to selfless work. I can’t even thank them enough for risking their lives to save the lives of others.
Why is International Nursing Day Celebrated?
International Nurses Day is celebrated on 12 May across the world in memory of ‘Florence Nightingale’. She was known as the founder of modern nursing. She served the wounded soldiers carrying lanterns during the war. Because of this, she is also known as ‘Lady with the Lamp’. The proposal to celebrate this day was kept in 1953, but President Eisenhower rejected his request. However, the proposal was approved in January 1974. Thereafter, 12 May was observed as International Nurses Day, in the honor of Florence Nightingale. International Council of Nurses (ICN) has been celebrating this day since 1965.
