India Premier League (IPL) season 10 is scheduled to start on 5 April 2017 and finish on 21 May 2017, with Hyderabad hosting the opening match and the final. Former Australian batsman and head coach of the Gujarat Lions, Brad Hodge took on the Indian captain Virat Kohli by saying that it would look awful if Virat played the IPL opener after withdrawing from the Dharamshala Test. Hodge has claimed that Kohli could be saving himself for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2017) and even questioned his commitment to the national team. In an interview with the Fox Star Sports News’ Gameday Live, Brad Hodge said: “IPL is a cash-rich tournament, It’s happened before. Not just Virat, but there are many players that have come up to IPL time.”
He further added: “He gets paid a helluva lot of money – he gets paid a helluva lot of money anyway, so it doesn’t matter – but there are certain players who will limp into IPL time, to make sure they get there and perform well, because it is an important tournament for everyone around the world.”
Virat Kohli had injured his right shoulder while trying to prevent a ball from crossing the boundary rope during the third Test in Ranchi. According to the Hodge, Maybe Kohli had decided to pull himself out in order to get some rest to recover in time for the IPL season 10.
