Iran as per consensus will be signing a deal to buy high-tech Su-35 fighter planes from Russia, as reported by the Iranian state media on Saturday, on the motto to expand the relations which earlier featured Iranian-built drones used by the Russian military during war on Ukraine.
“The Sukhoi-35 fighter planes are technically acceptable to Iran and Iran has finalised a contract for their purchase,” the broadcaster IRIB mentioned Iran’s mission to the United Nations in New York.
However, no source from the Russian administration have confirmed about the verification and confirmation of the deal. The mission further mentioned that Iran is also seeking to acquire military aircraft from other anonymous countries, as quoted in the IRIB report.
Russian President Vladimir Putin paid a visit to the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran last year in July, focusing on strengthening ties amidst the Western dominance over the war in Ukraine.
Iran has also made a special mention of sending drone to Russia however those were shipped much before Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine last year. Moscow on the other hand have refuted the claim of using Iranian-built drones in Ukraine.
