Robert Downey left the fans crazy after he announced his return to the Marvel cinematic universe as a villain.
Robert Downey Jr., who everyone knows as Iron Man, is coming back to the Marvel movies, but this time as a villain named Doctor Doom. He will be in two new Avengers movies: “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” Kevin Feige, the boss of Marvel Studios, announced this exciting news at the big comic book event, San Diego Comic-Con, on July 27, 2024.
He also said that the Russo Brothers, Anthony and Joseph, will be directing “Avengers: Doomsday,” which is planned to come out in May 2026 . During the event, Robert Downey Jr. made a surprise appearance. He came out on stage wearing Doctor Doom’s famous mask and green cloak. At first, no one knew it was him because his face was hidden. But then, he removed the mask, and everyone in the audience was excited, cheering loudly. This unexpected reveal made the announcement even more thrilling for the fans.
Downey Jr. told the excited audience, saying “Same mask, new task,” meaning he’s taking on a new role. He will play the evil character Victor von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom, who will be in “Avengers: Secret Wars” in May 2027. The news was shared by Marvel Studios quickly on their social media account that read “The Russo Brothers return to direct Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Robert will play the villain Victor Von Doom, or Doctor Doom, in at least one of the upcoming Avengers movies. He kicked off Marvel’s movie successes with Iron Man and played the popular character in nine films. Downey said cheers to his fans. His return comes after he won his first Oscar for his role in Christopher Nolan’s 2023 film Oppenheimer. After over a decade of anchoring the MCU in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, he said goodbye to the Tony Stark character, which saw Tony give up his life to save the universe.
