According to the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, Ramsay Hunt syndrome occurs when the varicella-zoster virus infects a facial nerve near the inner ear. And this is how it affected Justin. As he can’t blink or smile. Justin himself revealed about the virus he said “And it’s because of this virus, it attacks the nerve in my ear, in my facial nerves, and it caused my face to have paralysis, as you can see this eye doesn’t blink, I can’t smile on this side of my face, this nostril doesn’t it moves, so there’s total paralysis on this side of my face,” he also indicated that his condition is “pretty serious.”
