ICC rankings for the T20 batsmen now include Ishan Kishan at the seventh position who also becomes the highest-ranked Indian batsman in the T20Is.
The current fireworks smashed by the wicket-keeper opener have been advantageous to him. Indian fans talked and complained to remove Ishan Kishan a few months back after witnessing a poor form from the fellow in the Indian Premier League. Mumbai Indians too were disappointed and unhappy with Ishan’s performance.
Luck was favoured as he was called up for the T20 series against the South Africans which not only resulted in an important series for him but also a memorable one.
Ishan knocked 76 runs in the very first T20I hosted in Delhi where he assisted his team to score the 20th 200+ score but team India failed to conclude their dominance and the win slipped away from their hands.
Cuttack too could have been another half-century ground for the young lad by Nortje’s plan on delivering a short-ball was well execrable as Ishan walked back with 34 runs. The third and the most crucial T20 for both the teams was a maiden win for skipper Pant as the leader for India and Ishan did not fail to perform either as he smashed a sensible half-century knock.
Ishan is currently on the seventh position of the T20I list and will be looking to a few blocks more before the last two games conclude.
